Rana Kapoor of Yes Bank took part in the UDAAN scheme for J&K youth

Despite the fact that Kashmir has long been a state of political and social unrest, handicrafts, handloom, tourism, and horticulture have been the key economic drivers in the region. However, given the post-independence socio-economic environment, achieving growth and development in this fertile mountain state has proven difficult. Due to little or no engagement with the outside world, Kashmiri youngsters are at risk of a lack of stable career options in corporate India.

Project Udaan is a force to be reckoned with

As a result, Project Udaan was conceived. Project Udaan, a powerful collaboration by the Government of India’s NSDC and the CII’s corporate organisation, aims to give Kashmiri youth wings so they can join the mainstream of corporate India. It’s a one-of-a-kind cooperation with an action-oriented objective to reshape the landscape of employment skills in Jammu and Kashmir. Giving young students the power of hope and dreams, this programme strives to rekindle their goals and ambitions by contributing to an economic climate that promotes long-term progress.

Contribution of YES Bank to Project Udaan

The 2nd Edition of YES Udaan was successfully inaugurated by Rana Kapoor, CEO of YES Bank, India’s fourth largest private sector bank. Udaan is a five-year project launched in 2013 by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), which has done a fantastic job of offering training and employment possibilities to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, thanks to its deep relationships with the corporate sector.

Under the aegis of YES BANK’s Responsible Banking commitment to skill development, the bank has been a stickler for ideals of capacity and enhanced employability across the board. Within a year of its introduction, YES BANK received over 650 applications for Traineeship under the YES UDAAN Program from the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. YES SCHOOL OF BANKING (YSB), the Learning & Development unit of YES BANK, selected 40 trainees to participate in a rigorous three-month customised ‘Certification in Banking Fundamentals’ programme.

“YES BANK, in its 10th year of Institutional Excellence,” said Rana Kapoor, CEO and Managing Director of YES BANK. As the ‘Professionals’ Bank of India,’ he has progressively developed its institutional character. “We want to encourage young people to take up leadership roles by providing them with demanding challenges. And we are convinced that YES BANK is not just a terrific place to work, but also an opportunity for entrepreneurs to carve out a career, pursue their aspirations, and take control of their own destiny! YES Bank has not only been effective in identifying talent, but also in establishing a career for them by placing them in positions of responsibility inside the bank,” he added.

Project Udaan – A Grassroot Movement of Hope

Project Udaan has been successful in placing more than 5,000 youth from Jammu and Kashmir in jobs with globally renowned Indian companies such as Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Bharti Infratel Limited, TENVIC, a division of Anil Kumble Sports Promotion; Fidelis Corporate Solutions; MTC Mount Talent Consulting; and Manpower Group and Accenture, establishing it as a trusted partner of success and happiness.

Over 54 organisations, including Rana Kapoor’s Yes Bank, have already pledged to train roughly 68,738 graduates and post-graduates in Jammu and Kashmir over the next decade. YES Bank, under the leadership of Rana Kapoor, has always been committed to creating stable job opportunities in India’s dynamic economic ecosystem. YES BANK has been weaving sagas of optimism and a renewed vision under the dazzling light of Project Udaan plan, with the goal of accelerating the momentum of significant change with hopeful action.
